Poppet Floral Design

This year, I have enjoyed delving into more formal instruction in floral design. I grew up working at my parents’ garden center. I created endless bouquets for customers, but I never received any formal training in flower arranging. I have deepened my love of flower arranging over the years and have always sought ways to improve on my skills,

This summer, I decided to attend the Boston School of Floral Design, founded by Michael Gaffney. The course was held at the New England Flower Exchange in Chelsea, Massachusetts. It was a six-day intensive class where I was certified “in all the basics to all the advanced learning”.

There, I learned techniques in European, American, and modern flower arranging. We learned methods of hand-tied European arrangements (including a bridal bouquet and boutonnieres) and Pave designs. We also created an arrangement with Linear Designs for a sleek contemporary look.
